| The
Weyburn Beavers are pleased to announce the signing
of Justin Wichert
as Assistant Coach for the 2010 season. As an Assistant
to Head Coach Terry Smith, Justin’s main role will
be as the Beavers Pitching Coach and he brings an impressive
background to that position.
As
a College pitcher he played for Cowley County Community
College and was drafted by the San Diego Padres. After
Cowley he played for William Jewell College as a starting
pitcher and after his eligibility he continued to
help Coach at William Jewell.
During
the summers of 2006 and 2007 Justin pitched in the
Northern League, Frontier League and the South Coast
League. Last summer Justin served as the Pitching
Coach for the Laramie Colts in the Mountain Collegiate
Baseball League and he is currently the Pitching Coach
for Dodge City Community College in the Jayhawk Community
College Conference.
During
his professional career Justin had the opportunity
to play under some great managers the most notable
being Cecil Fielder. With his connections in both
the College and Professional ranks we look to Justin
to help Head Coach Terry Smith to recruit a Beavers
team that will not only make the playoffs but will
make a push towards a WMBL championship.
